It's Spring and our plants are popping up everywhere!
Clifton Nurseries Popup Shop
We were delighted to be invited by Paddington Central to set up a popup shop on the Pioneer barge on the Grand Union Canal at Sheldon Square - the opening of which was timed to coincide with World Planting Day last Wednesday (21st March).
Open every weekday until Thursday 28th March, from 10am to 4pm, our Clifton Nurseries popup shop offers a specially selected range of Spring plants, both indoor and outdoor - all beautifully arranged both inside and outside the Pioneer barge.
Floating Garden
We're also loving watching the floating garden on top of the barge grow and flower. Planted up by our Clifton Nurseries Landscaping team for Paddington Central as part of their Hello Spring campaign, more and more of the Spring bulbs planted on the roof of the barge are coming into flower to welcome the Spring sunshine.
Flowering bulbs, particularly Spring bulbs, are one of nature’s miracles. Lying dormant under the ground throughout the winter, they emerge in the Spring in fabulous colours of the rainbow to announce the arrival of Spring. They must surely also be one of the easiest plants to grow – simply put the bulbs in the ground in the Autumn and wait for them to emerge and flower in Spring!
The Spring bulbs are planted embedded into a wildflower meadow, so as as the weather warms up the roof of the barge will come alive with flowers, providing a treat for the bees and insects.
The Clifton Nurseries Touch
And being Clifton Nurseries, we just couldn't resist adding the Clifton touch with one of our Clifton Nurseries bikes on the roof of the barge - complete with sign posts directing passers-by to our nearby Clifton Nurseries London branch (only a 5 to 10 minute walk away).
