Philodendrons (Sweetheart plants) are relatively tough houseplants. A feature of most Philodendrons is their production of aerial roots from the stems.

Light
Keep out of direct sunlight. Philodendrons perform the best in well lit conditions but will tolerate some shade.

Water
Keep the compost moist during the winter but make sure that it is not waterlogged. Over watering will cause discolouration of the leaves and leaf drop, especially in cool conditions. Water well in summer.

Temperature
Average warmth with a minimum of 13ºC (55ºF)

Feed
Feed monthly with a liquid fertiliser. It is not necessary to feed any more than this.

Repot
Repot in spring every 2 to 3 years.
