It’s time to start planning for a beautiful spring display!
Our spring bulbs have arrived in the shop, with plenty of favourites to choose from, including colourful tulips, cheerful daffodils, delicate crocus, fragrant hyacinths and iris.
Spring-flowering bulbs are best planted in autumn and early winter, giving them plenty of time to settle in before bursting into life when spring arrives.
Our Top Tips for Planting Bulbs
Most bulbs enjoy well-drained soil, so add compost or grit to heavier soils, particularly London clay. For containers, bulb fibre or good-quality multipurpose compost works well.
As a general rule, plant bulbs at around three times their own depth, with the pointed end facing upwards. For a natural-looking display, scatter your bulbs across the area and plant them where they land – the more informal the better!
And remember, once they have flowered, don't cut the foliage back too soon. The leaves help feed the bulb for next year's flowers, so allow them to die back naturally.
Pop into the shop and discover our spring bulbs – the perfect way to start planning a colourful spring garden.
