Terms & Conditions

All website details, including prices, are subject to change and notification of any relevant changes will be given to the buyer following receipt of order. The buyer will subsequently be offered the opportunity to cancel or amend the order.

All prices shown are correct at the time of publication and VAT is included at the current rate.

Payment must be tendered with the order and orders will only be accepted on receipt of cleared funds unless a credit facility has been put in place.

Clifton Nurseries has the right to refuse an order.

Clifton Nurseries will endeavour to deliver goods within the estimated  time following receipt of order but will not be liable for any delay in the delivery of goods however caused.

Returned goods must be unused, in their original packaging and in the same condition as received. The buyer must notify the seller (Clifton Nurseries) within 24 hours of receipt of item of the reason for the return. (See our returns policy).

The entire liability of Clifton Nurseries under the contract to which the order relates is limited to the value of the order and Clifton Nurseries will have no liability for consequential loss, except where losses are within the contemplation of both parties.

We will take all reasonable care to keep all information connected with your order secure but we cannot be held liable for any loss that you may suffer if a third party obtains unauthorised access to any data, including credit and account details you provide when accessing or ordering from this Web Site, unless this is solely due to our negligence


We will deliver the Goods to the address you specify for delivery in your order. It is important that this address is accurate. Please be precise about where you would like the Goods left if you are out when we deliver. We cannot accept any liability for any loss or damage to the Goods once they have been delivered in accordance with your delivery instructions.

For the majority of products we only serve mainland addresses within England, Wales, and parts of Scotland. All offshore addresses are excluded eg: the Isle of Wight, the Isle of Man, the Scottish Isles, Ireland and the Channel Isles. Delivery on certain products may be restricted to certain postcodes in the London region.

We will aim to deliver within the quoted time frame but delivery times are not guaranteed. If delivery is delayed due to any cause beyond our reasonable control, we will contact you to advise you that the delivery date will have to be extended.  Clifton Nurseries Limited will not be liable for any delay in the delivery of goods however caused.

Certain products will be delivered directly from the manufacturer or supplier. Where this is the case then delivery time frames will be dependent on their stock levels and usual delivery times. Some of these products may not be standard and therefore need to be manufactured, this will increase lead times. 

Delivery charges only provide for one delivery attempt. In the event of a failed delivery caused by no one being present at the pre-agreed time, we reserve the right to require the payment of a further charge. 

Not all goods are available for delivery and some products may be delivered within restricted London postcodes only.

Local deliveries are available for selected postcodes only. You can obtain an estimate for standard delivery by clicking on MY BASKET and using the "ESTIMATE SHIPPING AND TAX" form.

Reserve and Collect Items

Where goods are offered for reserve and collect, these will be held for 7 days. Should you wish us to hold an item beyond this period you are required to contact us to pay a deposit of 50% of the value of the item(s). After which they will be available for general sale both in the Garden Centre and on the website. 

Risk and ownership

Risk of damage to or loss of the Goods passes to you at the time of delivery to you or, if you fail to take delivery at the agreed time, the time when we tried to deliver.

You will only own the Goods once they have been successfully delivered and when we have received cleared payment in full. Goods supplied are not for resale.


We aim to provide high quality products to our customers. Accordingly, we warrant that where the Goods are products and not already covered by a manufacturer's guarantee, they will meet their specification and will be free from defects in materials and workmanship at the time of delivery.


If you have a valid claim in respect of any of Goods which is based on any defect in their quality or condition or their failure to meet specification in accordance with the Contract, and you have returned the Goods within the time frame stated in the returns policy, you will be entitled to choose either a refund of the price of the Goods or replacement Goods free of charge.

We shall not be liable to you in connection with any contract, in tort (including negligence), contract or otherwise for any loss of profit, anticipated savings or data that your business may suffer.

These terms and conditions do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.

We will continually improve the Goods, so changes to them may be made at any time. We will use reasonable commercial endeavours to keep the Web Site up to date but the information and specifications given are for your information only and are subject to change without notice. Pictures on the Web Site are generally accurate but variations in colour, shape and size must be expected.

The content of the Web Site is directed solely at those who access the site from addresses within the Delivery Area.

We assume no responsibility for the contents of any other web sites to which this Web Site has links.

Matters out of our control

We will not be liable to you or in breach of the Contract for delay or failure to perform due to a cause beyond our reasonable control.


All of the written, photographic, design and audio content of the Web Site together with the selection and arrangement of it and all software compilations are our copyrighted property or that of the people who have granted to us the right to use it and is protected as such. All rights reserved.

None of this material may be used without our written permission. You may download or print a single copy for your own non-commercial off-line viewing.

All names, logos, slogans, or other phrases may be a trade mark of ours or another person or corporation. Any unauthorised use of a trade mark is unlawful.


Unless otherwise stated, discount codes (including those offered/displayed by third parties) cannot be used for purchases of gift vouchers and do not apply to postage/delivery charges unless it specifically states as such.

Friends of Clifton Trade Card

By applying for and using your Friends of Clifton Trade Card or online account (the "Card"), you agree to the following conditions:
The Card is not a payment or credit card.
The scheme applies to goods purchased online and "in-store." It does not apply to gift vouchers or delivery charges. We also reserve the right to exclude further goods from the qualifying group of goods (the "Relevant Goods").
The presentation of the Card will entitle you to purchase any of the Relevant Goods at Clifton Nurseries trade price in store.
You must present the Card at the till before the transaction begins in order to obtain the trade prices.
If ordering stocked items by phone then Card details must be given prior to receiving the quote.
The Card is for use by authorised signature only, the trade card is non transferable.
This Card may not be used in conjunction with any current in store or online discount, promotional offer or voucher.
The card can be used for retail transactions only. The discount does not apply to our landscape, maintenance or design services.
Refunds will only be available at the original trade price paid by you. If you would like to return any unused item in resalable condition, we will happily refund or exchange it within 28 days of purchase. All we ask is that you bring your proof of purchase. This does not apply to special orders. This does not affect your statutory rights.
If the Card is lost or stolen you must re-apply for a trade card. This will involve proving your eligibility for a Card, the qualifying criteria can be found under the Friends of Clifton Trade Card section of our website:
Clifton Nurseries reserve the right to withdraw the Cards and/or alter or terminate the scheme at any time.
If the terms and conditions change or if we terminate the scheme customers will be notified when they either visit or contact Clifton Nurseries by phone or online to use the Card.
On applying for a Trade Card you are agreeing to receive promotional offers from Clifton Nurseries. You can opt out of this by contacting Clifton Nurseries.
The Card remains the property of Clifton Nurseries Ltd and you agree that you will not tamper with or in any way deface the card.


This does not affect your statutory rights as a customer.
