Inspiring Gardeners Since 1851

Rudding Park Kitchen Garden

Designed by Matthew Wilson, the one acre Kitchen Garden has been created in the lee of Rudding Park's historic walled garden, with the aim of supplying the hotel kitchen with high quality fresh produce, including heritage varieties and fruit and vegetables specific to Yorkshire.

The garden is designed around a series of raised beds made from oak harvested on the estate. A central arbour is used to grow climbing vegetables such as squashes, gourds and beans, more than forty varieties of apple and twenty varieties of rhubarb.

The garden is open to guests, so the aesthetics of the space are as important a consideration as the productivity.
